Community: Hudson Valley Responds to Covid-19
We have been touched by the community that is popping up everywhere in response to Covid-19. Local organizations and government are really showing what they’re made of. We all have so much information coming to us from so many different directions, so we’re going to try to do our part to consolidate the ways local Hudson Valley people can access food at this uncertain time. If we have left out a resource, please let us know and we will share it here. Tomorrow we’ll highlight ways our local businesses are addressing community needs in the wake of Covid-19. Friday we’ll share what we’re seeing in New York City and nationally. Stay safe everyone.
All of Ulster County
UlsterCounty.gov Our local government website has a comprehensive list of all community efforts, including meal delivery plans, emergency food resources for the county, and Covid-19 news updates. We have it bookmarked. UlsterCorps If you want to volunteer or you need volunteering, UlsterCorps is compiling information on Covid-19 volunteer needs from local agencies and nonprofits to be shared through their action alerts. Project Resilience This community fund and local food distribution effort was recently launched to support residents impacted by Covid-19. Our public transportation system, UCAT, will be used and the county is partnering with nonprofits and municipalities to deliver meals.

HUDSON

Hudson’s city website is compiling local news, health information, and maintaining a long list of food resources
If you’re able to donate money, Friends of Hudson Youth has organized a wide-ranging fundraiser to help provide food to people during this time. If you have time to donate, they are looking for volunteers, too.
NEW PALTZ
If you live in or near New Paltz, here are some solid resources for food services and ways to help your neighbors.
Families in need of food delivery for all children (age 18 years and under) in their home during our Covid-19 school closure, can fill out this form.
New Paltz Neighbor to Neighbor
This community effort is a neighborhood wellness check organized to help older community members and those with special needs most vulnerable to Covid-19. They’re seeking volunteers to participate -- this can even mean making phone calls from your home.
STONE RIDGE
Our town’s food pantry is currently assembling emergency bags for the children, the elderly, and the immune compromised. Get involved if you can.
KINGSTON
This community cafe operates a food pantry and a children’s lunch program. They’re seeking donations for their Bag Hunger Program which offers breakfast, lunch, and snack items for school-age children that they’re now running until school resumes.
